Change Management: What is it and why does it matter?
Healthcare organizations and the individuals that work in and support these organizations, such as Hospitals and Long-Term Care Homes, are no stranger to change. Organizational change comes in the many shapes and sizes that can encompass large scale implementation projects, such as the implementation of a new electronic health record for the entire organization, or smaller scale changes, such as the adoption of a revised unit intake form. What all these changes have in common is that in order to achieve the objective of the project, all stakeholders must be on board and adopt the change. Change management focuses on the people side of change and recognizes that organizational change is the culmination of many individuals moving from their own current state and practices, adopting change to realize their own future state.
Project AMPLIFI is no different, and it was realized early on in the project lifecycle that the application of an evidence-based change management model is integral to project success. We have used the Prosci© ADKAR Model to inform our change management plans. The ADKAR model is fundamentally based on how people experience change and defines the elements that must be present for a change to be successful. The elements include:
Putting it all together!

Our change management activities are guided by the AMPLIFI Meter and align with the Prosci© change management methodologies to support the adoption of digital workflows, optimize transitions between healthcare institutions, and improve the healthcare journey of patients.
