We’re excited to share some updates on Project AMPLFI.  Phase 1 of the Ontario eHub Sub Project (Transform Shared Service Organization and Cornwall Community Hospital) went live with 16 long-term care homes in the Erie St. Clair and Cornwall regions. Monthly expansion efforts are underway to bring live additional long-term care homes associated with Trillium Health Partners, Central East Hospitals, and Atlas Alliance Hospitals.

The team has been actively engaging facilities that are in post go-live operations and continues to gather feedback on change management and training resources. If you have suggestions or comments from your integration experience, we would love to know!

Did you Know?

In the past year, Project AMPLIFI has supported the transfers of 4807 residents, allowing clinical documentation to be seamlessly exchanged between the health system and the long-term care home.

Digital Transformation: Ontario’s Healthcare System to “Axe the Fax”

From prescriptions to specialist referrals, an estimated 152 million faxes are sent by healthcare providers in Ontario each year, according to the Ministry of Health. However, not all of these reach their intended recipient. In 2021 alone, 5000 privacy breaches were reported as a result of misdirected faxes. Has the time finally come to replace this long-standing technology in Ontario?

Ontario’s Ministry of Health certainly thinks so. Their new healthcare plan, Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, launched in February 2023, aims to “axe the fax” in the next five years. With alternative digital communication methods, the Ministry hopes to reduce delays in care and promote patient privacy.

Project AMPLIFI is proud to offer one such communication method to hospitals and long-term care homes, ensuring safe and timely care for residents at critical points of transition. With a digital exchange, our goal is to reduce the reliance on paper and faxes. This not only minimizes the administrative burdens of transcribing, but also tackles the risks of unauthorized disclosure of sensitive patient information.
